FOR THE HOME (or apartment!) OWNER

First and foremost, if what you want is available at your local, small shop—we recommend purchasing from them vs any online retailer. However, if your local shop doesn’t have an e-commerce site and you decide to online shop, below are some brands you can feel good about.

Simple Switch is a one stop shop - think of it like Amazon but small business style, and every brand/item has a purpose. The founder, Rachel, is really passionate about the concept of voting with your dollar and supporting entrepreneurs around the world.

The items on Simple Switch aren’t inexpensive, but its for good reason. So while these may not be items you shop for everyday, it’s a good time to invest in a meaningful gifts for your loved ones.

Swedish Dish Cloths are a game changer. I converted to these instead of paper towels years ago and they are surprisingly very absorbent. It’s also nice that you can throw them in the dishwasher or washing machine. The NY Times did a review of the best ones here, so check this out if you’re not sure which ones to try!

Meliora is the gold standard when it comes to sustainable cleaning brands. This might not seem like a typical gift idea, but these suggestions are all meant to help your loved ones ease into sustainable living if this is uncharted territory for them. Meliora has every certification imaginable, from B-Corp, to MADE SAFE, to 1% for the planet. They also make their products right here in the US—in Chicago!

This is a fun one—and a unique gift idea! MPOWERD created Luci, the first inflatable solar light. They now sell a wide array of sustainable, affordable, and thoughtfully designed lighting products. My favorite are the Luci Solar String Lights. I use them on my balcony and can’t wait to upgrade them for use in my backyard in our new home!

Okay, not your typical gift, but this is sure to be a conversation starter. I personally love a bidet. I can’t believe there was ever a time when I didn’t use one! Bidet users report using up to 75% less toilet paper than non-users, so save some t-paper, and money, and invest in a Tushy bidet.

When shopping for Home Goods, you can find so many gems on Marketplace! Also a great place to sell or gift things you don’t want anymore!
