Hi! I’m Nicole, founder of Zero Waste NYC.
My journey into sustainability began in 2017 after seeing Rhea Suh of NRDC speak on an Earth Day panel. Rhea was the catalist that fueled my drive and comittment to environmental advocacy. So, after eight years in advertising, I finally took the leap and shifted gears to freelance consulting within the sustainability sector and started lowering my impact in my everyday life. This transition allowed me to embrace a passion I had always had for waste reduction and climate action.
In September 2019, inspired to share my zero waste journey, I organized a workshop to help friends and family learn about what I was doing. I invited the Sanitation Foundation to attend and participate in the event. I was shocked by the turnout—over 40 people showed up! Since it was so successful the Foundation asked me to enter into a formal partnership. Since then we’ve hosted over 50 workshops across New York City’s five boroughs.
Along the way, my dedication to sustainability led me to accept a full-time position at Re:Dish in the summer of 2022. Re:Dish is a reusable dishware program helping companies with large-scale food service operations and schools reduce waste.
As a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor, I've had the privilege of working with diverse organizations, from large corporations to grassroots startups and nonprofits. I've engaged with over 100 sustainability experts, ranging from CEOs to climate change advocates, enriching my perspective and approach.
On a personal note, I’m a proud wife and mom to Logan, born in July 2023 :). I’m a huge Yankee fan, love to cook, drink iced coffee all year round, and love a good Bravo reality show.
I am passionate about fostering a community of sustainability advocates and look forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming workshops! Feel free to connect with me anytime at nicole@zerowastenyc.info.
