My Trusted Brands
I always recommend shopping secondhand first, but if you don’t feel comfortable doing that-or can’t with things like food or diapers, etc-click the links to shop (some of these are affiliate links)!
Hydro Flask
Hydro Flask is one of the best brands out there. They’re stainless steel and insulated, and come in a ton of amazing colors and styles.
One of their best features is their trade-in program and recycling program, specifically designed to ensure their products are recycled efficiently and properly. When you send in your bottle you also get $5.00 toward your next purchase!
But remember, 1-2 water bottles is enough. “Collecting” reusables defeats the purpose!
Rebelstork
I LOVE Rebelstork. In fact, I bought a gift card for a mom friend of mine to introduce her to the benefits of open box and gently used baby gear! I tell everyone in my life that is a parent or soon to be parent about it because again, babies outgrow everything so quickly that it’s crazy to buy things new at full price. Secondhand is beneficial to the planet and your wallet. It’s a fact!
Another great site to try is GoodBuy Gear. And of course, Facebook Marketplace and your local Mom/Dad groups!
Rebelstork
Green Kid Crafts is empowering the next generation of environmental leaders using creative, nature-based STEAM activities. Founded by mother and environmental scientist Penny Bauder in 2010, she found a way to provide parents and caregivers with eco-friendly projects designed by professional educators that teach kids about the value of sustainability and a healthy planet.
Misfits Market
Online value grocer dedicated to making affordable, high-quality food more accessible while helping break the cycle of food waste. They work directly with farmers and food producers to source organic produce, high-quality meats, seafood, plant-based proteins, and dairy products, sustainably sourced pantry staples, wine, and other groceries that might otherwise go to waste.
Diaperkind
It’s not for everyone, I get it. But if you are open to cloth diapering this is a fantastic option. I was so skeptical about cloth diapering but having a service that was able to pick up and launder for us was a game-changer. Nina, the owner, was so helpful teaching us the process and having a mentor of sorts made me feel better about trying something so new!
The service is reasonably priced if you normally buy higher end diapers but compared to a mass market brands it’s definitely more expensive. Not everyone has the privilege to pay for a service like this but if you do and you are in the NYC or Austin, TX area and want to try cloth diapering I highly recommend it!
